One Minute Please!
The Nivaagaard collection contains unique pieces of renaissance and baroque paintings made by Rembrandt, Van der Neer, Jan Steen, Bellini, Van Ruysdal and many more.
How often do museum visitors spend more than few seconds in front of a single painting? Is it lack of time, impatience or just the untrained museum guest who fail to immerse themselves? Many of the works in the museum are 300 and 400 years old, therefore we think that the audience can spend one minute in front of a single painting. At least one minute!
Eight designers and artist have been invited to enter a dialogue with the paintings and the audience is encouraged to spent time in front of the art works. At least one minute and preferably longer. The eight designers have created their own original piece of seating furniture, entering a symbiotic situation with the art pieces.
Please come and sit down!
The designers are: Christina Liljenberg Hallstrøm, Jonas Trampedach, Karen Kjærgaard, Malene Bach, Else-Rikke Bruun, Maria Lyhne Grønaa, Sophie Brünner, Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt, Violise Lunn
Søren Kierkegaard already said it and we agree: “Of all ridiculous things, it seems to me, that the most ridiculous is being busy”.
